“What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10:51
Lord, heal the ones I love. Purge their bodies of sickness and bring complete healing. Comfort those who are hurting, who have been unfairly treated, and those who ache for broken relationships to be restored.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Matthew 20:32
Father, silence the enemy who lies to us, who stirs up division, who puffs up our pride, who shames us after we have already been forgiven.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10:36
Spirit, draw me closer to you. Fan the fire in my heart so it becomes a bright light to all I encounter. Knock down the walls of independence and self-reliance that I have built. Remind me what is true and good, kind and loving.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Luke 18:41
Increase my faith in You, in your power, provision, and protection. Show me the riches you have freely given to me: safety, a home, a family, a job, food, and a faith community. Thank you for giving me so many blessings. Open my eyes to see the places in my life when you protected me and when you opened and shut doors in your goodness and wisdom.
Lord, thank you that I was born in a country that is free, full of opportunity, where I can worship you openly. Thank you for always meeting my needs.
“What do you want me to do for you?”
Search my anxious heart and help me surrender my plans for your purpose. Build my trust in You and keep my focus on the present. Keep me from being distracted by things out of my control and help me to joyfully accept your will for me.
“What do you want me to do for you?”
Show me where to serve, to listen, to be kind, and to encourage. Mend the hurt places in my heart so I can fully believe how much you love me. Show me how you have never left me alone, always by my side, always caring for me.
“Jesus looked at him and loved him.” Mark 10:21
Lord, you are all I need. Tell me again how precious I am to you, even when others make me feel undeserving of love. Help me remember your invitation to lay all my burdens at your feet, a place where I can confidently walk straight into your arms to be held, to be restored, to be listened to, to be known.
Remove any seed of bitterness that is growing within me. Give me the courage to confess my weaknesses, to bring my worries to you, to boldly profess my faith despite my fear.
“And they were amazed by him.” Mark 12:17
Good and mighty Father, you have given me so much. You have rescued me from my bad choices and forgiven me when I was selfish. When I turned my back on you, or when I didn’t speak up for another who was in need, you still didn’t condemn me.
You give me breath and sight and mobility. Thank you.
You bring the sun, the rain, the warmth, and make the flowers, trees, and crops grow. You have made the mountains and streams, the deserts and forests, the endless plains and rich farmland. Thank you.
“The most important one is this: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30
Father, forgive me when I elevate myself over others, when I’m tempted to judge, point fingers, label, or call them names. Open my eyes to see all people as image bearers, individuals you have uniquely created for your purposes. Let me lead with compassion and a desire for everyone to know and walk with Jesus. Help me surrender my goals, my opinions, my need to be right or better, bigger or wiser.
Jesus, you are my everything, and I never want to leave your side. Help me live out my gratitude for salvation in every step I take, every word I utter, every thought I think. Teach me how to see others as you do and give me tenacity to reach towards those who aren’t like me, who seem undeserving, to those who desperately need to be liberated so they can live a new life covered in your unconditional love.
Spirit, increase my awareness of your voice, your guidance, your comfort, and presence within me. Make me aware of the work you have for me today. Fill me to overflowing so I can pour out a generous love. Protect me from distraction and give me laser focus on the most important ways I can shine for You.
“The large crowd listened to him with delight.” Mark 12:37
Holy Father, let my ears be opened to your voice today above all others.
Jesus, help me take your hand today, walking closely with you, ignoring all the things that tempt me to stop gazing at your face.
Spirit, let my joy spill over in every thought, word, and action.
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in everything - all she had to live on.” Mark 12:44
Lord, I surrender all. I trust that You are sovereign, and that Your authority has no end. Do not let me despair today, but instead let me use all that I have been given to bless others. All I have comes from you; help me to use it well.
Amen.
